Driving by... the first time I saw her... she had 'for sale' signs in the windows
of course I stopped to get pictures...
I had been thinking of a safe place to make beads ....this was the answer to my prayers
but I hadn't even driven the Winnebago yet... could I manage a 35foot bus?!
There's ALOT of room in there!....
You guessed it.... I bought her and brought her home... turns out, this bus was registered as a "motor home"... and as luck would have it, the NYstate law had just changed in July 2005 regarding vehicles with air brakes.... I didn't need a CDL to operate the bus because it is under 26,000lbs.
first things first... remove the lettering and give her a pressure wash...
Green being my favorite color, I started painting her Purple (inside joke)
The chicken scratches under the first three windows is an order for a mother's bracelet... (I was on a mission...didn't want to stop painting)
coming along... I spent three weeks painting in my spare time to get this far
all that's left is to paint on the black stripes and BlueBird logos
...and of course my lettering.... the Sherwin Williams guy was great for recommending the type of paint to use... I used an acrylic boat coat that I rolled on for a matte finish top coat. Water just rolls off...
Licensed and ready for inspection... but it didn't pass, I had to replace the muffler... Barry helped me get the old one off... but you know me... I couldn't wait for him to get home from work to put the new one on... the muffler is as big as me! (it would have been much easier with two people:)
looking through the windshield (like that picture of the first time I saw her)
It's messy in these pictures, but Tony hasn't seen it yet and I just finished doing a two weekend show at Peek 'n Peak when these pictures were taken for him... I'll have to work on getting new ones. Here's a view from the back
8 foot velvet covered couch/bed on the right
under the 'bed' is a stash of batteries, all charged up to run lights, tools, and the fridge
this is where I will soon be sitting at a torch making lampwork beads! ...glass top counter so I won't start on fire... See the kiln?
and behind curtain # one?
tee-hee!
...a cushy velvet covered loveseat on the left
here's a place to clean those beads (when I get the schtuph out of the sink)
In the past, I had to retrieve everything from the garage, basement, attic, and barn... Now, all my show tables, stands, tent, etc. are stored in one place!
it's all on the bus! ready for future use in a moment's notice...
a Swarovski antenna fob so I don't lose her the parking lot
